Marshfield Bakery was established in 1984 by Paul and Lynne White and started life from a domestic kitchen in their house in Marshfield High Street.
Lynne made fresh cakes and Paul sold them to the local village shops and the WI. Soon the business grew and Paul had regular customers in Bath and Bristol as well as the surrounding villages.
Paul saw a gap in the market for tray bakes and especially individually wrapped snack bars. These were to form the basis of the product range.
In 1987, the cakes were selling so well that Marshfield Bakery moved to Westend Farm and converted the outbuildings into the bakery.
The business continued to grow. Sales expanded across the UK through direct sales and through wholesalers. The workforce grew too to help meet the demand.
In November 2006, to meet demand, Marshfield Bakery moved to a larger, bespoke site at Tolldown Farm, a few miles out of Marshfield. This site allows for future growth and enables industry accreditation to be attained.
