Chris Smith - Director
Originally from Yorkshire, Chris has been involved with the bakery since 2011. He joined as part of a Manufacturing Advisory Service programme - and never left! Today he oversees many of the day-to-day operational aspects of the business, as well as strategic planning for future growth.
He holds the titles as the IoD’s South West Director of the Year in both 2014 and 2015, and never misses an opportunity to tell people about the accomplishments of everyone at the Bakery, from apprentices and bakery assistants, to our team of food technologists and managers.
Before Marshfield, Chris held a variety of senior roles all within the food and drink industry. He has worked across everything from frozen food logistics, through a stint category managing food packaging & hygiene, to chilled manufacturing of snacks and sandwiches, retail buying and running a very successful consultancy.
In his free time, Chris enjoys time spent with his family, travelling (often through North America),reading ridiculous amounts of fiction and, when he finds the time, DIY - as there are always jobs to do!
He is also the
Chair of a local Academy Trust that oversees the learning of some 3000

Sports Teams followed: None really! But does enjoy F1 and the rugby six nations
