Hattie Baker: New Product Development Technologist

Originally from Hertfordshire, Hattie moved to Bath in 2008 to begin a degree in Food Science at Bath Spa University.During this time she expanded her knowledge of the food industry with twohands-on quality assurance summer internships in a leading food service supplier and a sauce manufacturer respectively.

As part of her final year at Bath Spa,Hattie came to the bakery to create a food project that could compete against products in the existing food market – and she never left!

After graduating in 2011, Hattie began working as an Assistant Technologist to Katie Mumford. In that role she was responsible for supporting the wider technical team with supplier conformance,recipe creation and updating procedures. Towards the end of 2014, Hattie took up her role as New Product Development Technologist.

Now she is responsible for over seeing the NPD team as well as linking with the wider technical department within the business on a number of topics. She ensures that the correct procedures are followed, ingredients are carefully selected and that the appropriate paper work is completed when creating and designing new products, following a detailed customer brief before they can be launched.

In her free time, she enjoys bike rides, up-cycling furniture and going on holiday.
